That is the first stumbling block in planning an 8 month trip. And then even more questions and concerns come to mind.. Is there a theme or big picture? How long to stay in each spot? Do we pick 3 home bases and travel out and back from those? Do we purchase around the world tickets or book 1-way flights as we go? How much $ will we have? Can we really afford this? Will the dogs be alright? Will we miss Chloe too much and need to come home now and again? UGHHH! Our brains were getting sore.

And then, we received a message – Chloe tells us she’ll be fine and she’s super impressed with what we’re doing and she’s already found a roommate so we can’t come home anyway as there won’t be a room for us. Hmmm… well, that set us straight!

So, back to the first question… where to begin? And it suddenly came to us: Paris! Paul has an 837 day streak on Duolingo and wouldn’t it be great to immerse ourselves in French (and head back to Paris). I had received my first accommodation assignment and I jumped right in; we are now looking forward to staying in a cosy little Latin Quarter apartment next Spring. Planning mode has begun!
