Benefits to a longer stay

When planning our trips, we always ponder how much we really want or need to see in the time we have in each country. It is so tempting to run around and go to as many places as possible, which accomplishes seeing a lot and learning facts about the culture as you stop for tours and experiences. And this is what we will be doing on some of our stops.

On this first leg here in Bali, however, we really wanted to just chill, let go of our North American work headspace and relax into the space.

We are glad we decided to go this route for a few reasons:

1. It is the rainy season here and the rain is unpredictable so we may not have been able to enjoy the activities we had hoped for if we were here for only a short stay.
2. We are lucky to have found a place where they know our names and ask us about our day when we pop by. It is nice to feel a sense of belonging in a place where everyone and everything is new to us. (Thanks Hannah and Aji)
3. We are getting to try a bunch of restaurants AND enjoying all the breakfast options at our villa (I discovered they have peanut butter today and was super excited)!
4. We are getting familiar with the island and are now able to navigate our way to various destinations without referring to the map.
5. We made a decision after we arrived to splurge a little on an upgrade to our accommodation. Knowing we’re here for a while, we don’t feel like we’re missing out on opportunities around the island if we want to spend a morning hanging around in the room or the pool just a little longer.
