(There’s a semi-famous opening line from another classic film set in Vietnam, Apocalypse Now, that I thought of using here- anyone?)

Last trip we had Vietnam on the list of places to visit. It didn’t happen as our hopes of a visa collided with the Lunar New Year, and we decided instead to visit Laos. Curiosity is raging as we have heard so many positive things from people who have visited. Apprehension is also hanging around, as this will be new ground for us. Bali was a semi-familiar locale, one where we had a feel for what we would be experiencing. For all the “you’ll love it” comments about Vietnam, I’m also aware of the “watch out for your phones” and of course, the challenge of actually successfully crossing a street.

But confidence is high, and I’ve got my partner to remind me when I am not being mindful of my environment, so hello Ho Chi Minh and Good Morning Vietnam! Let’s go see what you have to offer!
