The hills covered in purple heather, the rolling farmland with fields separated by rows of bushes, the sheep dotting the hillsides and the villages at the edge of the water… we are impressed!!
We stayed in Elgin for a few nights after our big drive from the Orkneys to rest and rejuvenate. Elgin wasn’t the most beautiful town but the house we stayed in was lovely and it was an easy walk into town. We did take some day trips to visit Balmoral Castle and Culloden Battlefield while we were there.

After leaving Elgin we drove west along the coast and stopped at a few towns to admire the sites.

And thus ended our tour of the Scottish countryside and small seaside villages. We were soon off to the big cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow. But before we dropped off the car at the Edinburgh Airport, we had one last site to see.
